Inclusive

Unified Adults

Unified Basketball pairs a Unified athlete with an intellectual disability with a neuro typical or traditional participant, called a Unified partner. Each team will have a mix of athletes and partners on the court at any given time. These teams will compete against one another in the Unified Basketball division of our Eltham Wildcats Senior Domestic competition.

There is no modification to the rules, ring height or equipment used. This is just another opportunity to play basketball. However, we have opportunities for all levels of ability to participate.

Unified is an iconic program that promotes and creates social inclusion between individuals with and without intellectual disabilities through sport.

What does this mean?

It means that people with a disability can play in the same team as their mates, siblings or parents who do not have a disability. It also means that there is another opportunity for participation in sport available in the community.

We strive to create a meaningfully inclusive and supportive environment which allows athletes with an intellectual disability to achieve their individual potential in a regular sporting environment.
